What is an API?
A private API key will open a developer friendly portal and transfer data via common code such as HTTP or REST. This data transfer allows information to securely be sent and received in an automated and structured fashion.
Because an API is automated, it does not require human intervention. Transactions can automatically take place which produces a low-cost way to increase revenue and profits.

How are CorpNet APIs authenticated?
CorpNet APIs use a single static Bearer token, issued during partner onboarding. The same token authenticates both the Business Formation API and the Employer Tax Registration API — entitlement to each follows your partner agreement. There’s no OAuth flow or token exchange.
Does the CorpNet API support webhooks?
Not currently — webhook support is on the roadmap. In the meantime, order progression is tracked by polling the order detail endpoint, which returns status fields that update in real time as filings move through the queue.
How do I retrieve documents after a filing completes?
Once an order reaches a completed phase, filing documents are available via the document download endpoint. The API supports upload and download of supporting documents throughout the order lifecycle.
Can I cancel a CorpNet API order after submission?
Yes — orders can be cancelled via the Cancel Order endpoint.
Is the CorpNet API secure?
Yes. CorpNet is SOC 2 Type II certified. All API traffic uses TLS 1.2+ encryption, and every integration is authenticated with a partner-issued Bearer token.
Is the CorpNet API white-labeled?
Yes. The CorpNet API can be fully white-labeled. Your customers experience every filing as a native part of your application — CorpNet’s brand never appears unless you choose to surface it. Our filing experts and 50-state infrastructure operate entirely behind the scenes – unless you opt for a “grey-label” approach to have CorpNet handle the customer service.
Do I need a development team to use the CorpNet API?
Yes — direct API integration requires development resources. Partners without an in-house engineering team should consider CorpNet’s co-branded portal options, which deliver the same services through a hosted experience that doesn’t require code.
Does CorpNet offer a co-branded option for partners without developers?
Yes. Partners without an in-house development team can offer CorpNet services through a Co-Branded landing page that we will create for you at no cost.
Can CorpNet build custom API endpoints?
Yes. If you don’t see a specific filing or compliance service in our standard API package, CorpNet builds custom endpoints tailored to your use case. Bring your entity management challenges to our solutions team and we’ll see if we can scope a fit.
How long does it take to integrate the CorpNet API?
Most partners go live within 4-6 weeks. The timeline depends on the number of API endpoints you integrate and your team’s development capacity. CorpNet provides dedicated technical support and full documentation throughout integration.
What data formats does the CorpNet API use?
All requests and responses use JSON over HTTPS. The API is RESTful, with predictable URL patterns and standard HTTP status codes.
Which states does the CorpNet API support?
All 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia for Business Formation. The Employer Tax Registration API covers all 50 states (future roadmap: offering local registrations via API as well). CorpNet maintains direct relationships with every Secretary of State office and relevant state tax agency.
